character analysis

we only have two characters in our opening because it sets the genre of film quite well suggesting a romance genre because their is a boy and a girl and the opening conveys the love between them both. We want our target audience to like both of the characters and find them quite quirky so it shocks and upsets them more when they find out that they can no longer be together.

The male - BENJAMIN: we want benj to be quite cheeky because it will make young girls who are watching the film maybe fancy him and attach themselves to his character. Also we want to show how 'head over heels' he is with gabby so it is an even more upsetting scene when he finds out she has terminal cancer. Benj will have a beard to suggest his age and make him look quite mature, we also want to convey his intelligence and how head strong he is, as if he has his mind set on something he will do it.

The female - GABRIELLE: we want gabrielle to be beautiful but quirky, with her own sense of style possible bohemian style. Gabby is a free spirit and comfortable in herself. we want the audience to feel that she is not scared of death. She is smitten with Benj and very caring and loving towards him. She is also terminally ill, we want show two sides of her... strong and weak.

MISE EN SCENE: For both characters
costume: winter coats, wooly hats, scarves, wellingtons, gloves.
